Room Data Sheets and Synchronizing With Revit
Room data sheets are organized overviews that outline the requirements for specific room types. They are usually created during the discussion phase (or architectural programming in the US) of designing and can help clarify the needs of the client for each space type. They can be used to create specifications that will help contractors and designers understand what is expected from each space and how to ensure that the proposed solution meets the needs of the client.
Architects as well as other members of design teams, such as engineers and interior designers create room data sheets. They are work in progress and can remain a ‘living document’ until the client has endorsed the final architectural design. The data contained in the room sheets can be synced with the Revit model via a process known as backfilling. This method of verification helps to ensure that the data for the room accurately corresponds to the requirements of the final documents, and can also identify discrepancies.
The Room Data Sheets component of BriefBuilder allows users to easily create room data sheets and use them to sync with the Revit model. It includes a set standard templates and pre-programmed picklists for the electrical, structural, plumbing and HVAC disciplines. It also allows for the addition of thumbnail-sized graphics and drawings for each discipline.
The component is easy to use and does not require any special setup. It is able to load configurations previously saved, which can reduce the time required to set up. It allows properties such as the size, organization of the browser, and the naming of each view to be defined.
